About the Comic

Septembuary is a comic about life in modern China through the eyes of an expat. My ideas come usually from things I notice in daily life, conversations I have with others and the news or reading I do about China. It is truly a fascinating country, and I was very tired of only seeing two or three headlines “Children slaving away in factories”, “Pollution to reach new heights as people die” back home, so I decided it was time to shed a more positive light on how everyday small town people actually live. I always try to keep the strips positive, and none of my work is ever meant to be insulting!

About Me

me An eternal art student and slow traveler. I love living abroad for prolonged periods of time just to challenge myself to see and experience new things, and hopefully come up with new ideas for my artwork. I have lived in China for 3 years so far, teaching by day, drawing by night, and am loving every minute of it!

  1. Hey there, I found your comic through Reddit/r/中国 and absolutely love it, I’ve been living in China for about 2 years and I’m a bit of an illustrator/comic book artist as well, although not as good as you I must say, I find your comic blog to be very fun and a great source of inspiration, I’ll be sure to share your work to my friends and colleagues, keep it up!

I absolutely love your comics. It speaks to my soul as an artist and an English teacher. Right now I’m working at returning to Japan to teach English again.
    Keep up the awesome work!
